An Apostille is a document issued by the Florida Secretary of State that makes your documents valid overseas. It’s a form of authentication for the member states of the Hague Convention.
It is authentication of a public document that has been notarized or issued by a public official. Examples are: a marriage license, death certificate, school transcript, diploma, vehicle title, adoption records, criminal background checks, court documents, personal letters, business letters, etc.
The authentication certificate is always signed by a Secretary of State and is a separate stapled document that is added to your document. This certifies the authenticity of the capacity and signature of the person signing the document - typically a notary public or a County Clerk.
NOTE: For non-member states, a Notarial Certification is issued.
